LTA zeolite membranes supported on carbon materials have been prepared by ElectroPhoretic Deposition (EPD) using the secondary growth methodology, followed by ion exchange. The use of carbon materials provides an advantage over other supports in zeolite membranes because of, among others, their electrical conductivity. The LTA zeolite has a high capacity to exchange different metal ions which makes the modification of its pore size possible. Therefore, the porosity of the zeolite layer has been tuned towards hydrogen purification purposes. Experiments on H_2/CO separation have been performed using a mixture with a feed composition of 50%H_2, 1.25%CO in He. In this study, the permeation experiments show that these materials have a good separation factor, with the permeated gas stream having a CO concentration below 1ppm.
