International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Activities on Spent fuel Management; Keeping the Future Options Open

摘要

This paper is a review of current IAEA activities in spent fuel management with an overview of the current development in spent fuel management strategies and views of the possible future options for recycling of nuclear fuel.Current increases in long term energy demands, concerns with the energy supply security along with the view of climate change have also increased expectations of nuclear energy application. New countries interested in nuclear energy use are also concerned with reliable fuel services supply and would like to know about possible future options of recycling for optimization of resource utilization. Information on projects like spent fuel performance research, burnup credit application, spent fuel systems integration and spent fuel reprocessing options (current and future) was presented in this paper.
