Mineralization of Organic Phosphorus in Sediment of Urban Lake in Beijing

Mineralization of phosphorus (P) in sediments and the variation of overlying water of urban Lake in Beijing were studied. Total phosphorus (TP) concentrations of overlying water in Bayi Lake were higher on June. The lowest dissolved oxygen (DO) and highest Chlorophyll a (Chl. A) were appeared on June when worse water quality. The mean TP and Organic phosphorus (OP) content in sediments was changed little on March, June, October. Simulated experiments of phosphorus releasing from sediment at different pH and aerobic/anaerobic conditions showed that the concentrations of Total phosphorus and Total dissolved phosphorus (TDP) were fluctuating and TDP in overlywater were increasing trend in general. TP and TDP in overlywater at different conditions didn’t show distinction significantly in this experiment.
