Both PLA (polylactic acid) and polypropylene (PP) samples were produced in a melt blowing and spunbonding apparatus. Then, melt blown samples of crystalline PLA were compared to melt blown samples of PP. In addition, spunbonded samples of crystalline PLA were compared to spunbonded samples of amorphous PLA. These two spunbonded PLA materials were also compared to spunbonded PP. Sample comparison was made based on compression-recovery tests. The quantitative measures in these tests include compression resistance, elastic loss, immediate recovery, and long term recovery.
