Potential Health and Safety Impacts from Global ClimateChange

Over the past few years many state and local governments have responded to the heightenedfocus on Global Climate Change (GCC) predicted to occur as the result of the increased levels ofgreenhouse gases (GHGs). These initial efforts include both qualitative and quantitativemeasures, such as encouraging green building standards and mandating GHG emission reductiontargets. However, much of the justification for these programs relies on a mostly qualitativeunderstanding of the consequences that may result from GCC.This paper will present a summary of the latest scientific projections of potential human andenvironmental impacts due to global climate change. The paper will focus on the risks to health,safety, and biodiversity.
