@@INTRODUCTIONExperimental evidence for involvement of reactive oxygen species(ROS) such as H2O2,superoxide anion radicals(O2) and hydroxyl radicals(HO) in the toxic mechanism of prion protein(PrP) have been documented,suggesting that fundamental molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis in neurodegenerative diseases could be attributed to the production of ROS that stimulates the formation of abnormal protein aggregates.
