A yard allocation model is developed for outbound containers based on a rolling-horizon approach, which aims at the problem of outbound containers into yard. The model’s objective function is subject to the minimization of the total distance to transport the containers between their storage blocks and the vessel berthing locations, and balance the workload among all blocks. Then a simulation model is developed based on the yard allocation model, which employs heuristic rule and distributed genetic algorithm to solve the yard allocation model. Finally,a case simulation study has been used for system illustration, and then verifies the validity and usefulness of the model.
