This paper proposes a new scheme (namely TR-STBC -OFDM) which combines time-reversal space-time block codes (TR-STBC) with OFDM to derive a new MIMO-OFDM scheme for Mobile WiMAX.As an optimum last-mile access technology,Mobile WiMAX has many unique advantages which make it have the potential to impact the other forms of telecommunications. However,it still faces gigantic challenges, such as lower complexity and efficient system implementation. In addition to the destructive multipath nature of the wireless channels, frequency selective channels pose intersymbol interference (ISI) while offering frequency diversity for successfully designed systems.Since OFDM scheme can combat ISI extremely well and the TR-STBC scheme has full-diversity and full-rate as well as its lower computation complexity, the scheme in this paper performs effectively.Simulation results show that compared with the orthogonal space-time block codes combined with OFDM (O-STBC-OFDM) scheme which is recommended by IEEE802.16e specifications, this novel scheme can achieve better tradeoff between elegant BER performance, simple decoding as well as lower computation complexity for Mobile WiMAX system.
