Discharging the waste alkaline solution produced in the activating reaction process of axunge chemistry factories needs large amount of funds to settle the pollution.This paper studies the reusing of such waste alkaline solution for pulping rice straw.It was found that the waste alkaline solution from the axunge chemistry factory involved high content of NaOH and Al3+,which can be used in cooking rice straw for pulps.Results showed that use the waste alkaline solution only can not achieve eligible pulps.Adding commercial NaOH into the waste alkaline solution can achieve pulps with higher yield,higher brightness and lower Kappa number,comparing with that by pure commercial NaOH in the cooking liquor.It is also showed that the best proportion of the commercial NaOH to the waste alkaline solution was 8:4to 7:5.The The results from analyzed the compositions of the pulp showed that the reasons for the better results by using mixed cooking liquor were ascribed to higher retention of fiber and Al3+ in the pulp.
