The Development of Emergency Rescue Mobile Communication Network Based on Ad hoc Technology

Communication signal coverage and stability can hardly assured in part of central and western China, where natural disasters happen frequently. Affected by these disasters, communication base station and optical-fibre circuit are ruined during disasters. It is necessary to build a set emergency communication network, which can organize itself and run without reliance of established fixed station, in order to release accident information implement rescue. The network can provide steady continuous transmitting communication services, and applied for emergency appeal and accident information release. This system integrates hardware and software, known as “Mobile Ad hoc Network Node for Traffic Accident Rescue and Relief”, abbreviated to MAN2TAR2. Experimental results indicate that MAN2TAR2 system has following functions: topology change, join in network automatically, continuing transmission, multi-hop routing. This system adopts the IEEE 802.11 protocol, which provide dozens of mega transmission bandwidth for application. The multimedia information of image, voice video can also be transmitted after high compression.
