The dynamic crushing behavior of two-dimensional cellular structures isinvestigated using the Voronoi tessellation technique and the finite element method.The influences of the edges deleted on the plateau crush pressure and thedensification strain energy are mainly studied.In addition,the influence of irregularcell shapes on them is also investigated.Finite element models (FEMs) areestablished for structures based on Voronoi diagrams with different percents of theedges deleted or different degrees of cell shape irregularity.Numerical results showthat the plateau crush pressure and the densification strain energy decrease with thepercent of the edges deleted increasing.Besides,the plateau crush pressure and thedensification strain energy are also found to decrease as the degree of cell shapeirregularity increases.
