摘要

To clarify the oxygen transport across the microvessel and oxygen distribution in the skeletal muscle,we have newly designed an intravital laser microscopy with oxygen-dependent quenching of phosphorescence technique.This microscope was applied to measure the intra-and peri-vascular partial oxygen pressure (pO2) in rat cremaster muscle.A significant drop in pO2 along the arterioles and a large pO2gradient at the blood/tissue interface of arterioles were found.These findings suggest that oxygen is suppliedfrom arterioles to surrounding tissues and arteriolar wall O2 consumption would be high.
