THE IMPERATIVE OF WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT IN PAKISTAN: AN ANALYSIS FOR BETTER INSIGHT AND POLICY

摘要

Pakistan faces the challenge of meeting the needs and aspirations of a verylarge population with very low natural and human resources. The naturalresources, including energy and water are scarce in this semi-arid country.The water situation is likely to worsen with the melting of glaciers as anoutcome of global warming. Rapid development, management and protectionof water resources have to be an integral element in a suite of policies to bedeveloped to meet the environmental challenges faced by Pakistan.
