@@In 1996, author firstly reported the radical living surface grafting polymerization in Macromolecules.In followed ten years, author's group had expanded the "living grafting" to "Controllable Surface Grafting Polymerization" with about hundred published papers. Here we will present some new developments as (1) Controllable surface grafting of CTC bimonomers with MAH as main actor by a two-step grafting method where the semipinacol dormant groups were firstly introduced on substrate surface by UV irradiation and then the dormant groups were thermally cleaved from the substrate and left a surface free radical which initiated a surface grafting polymerization; (2) Based on the feature of hard-dead of surface chain radicals, a novel method, surface situ polymerization stringed assembly (SSPSA), is proposed to prepare surface tethered, stable solid or hollow over-molecular polymer particles, which are assembled by numerous nanoparticles.
