Cleaner machine surfaces, fewer sheet breaks, increased product quality and improved paper machine runnability are the result of online, real-time monitoring of microbial activity and control. Biocontrol chemical treatments are typically used to reduce microbial growth; however, classical microbiological monitoring methods have not allowed engineers to proactively adjust treatment strategies in time to prevent production upsets. Nalco's new patent pending OxiPRO™ Deposit Control Technology provides real-time evaluation of process conditions, microbial metabolic activity, and surface deposit formation, allowing for proactive modification of the treatment strategy.
