In case of a severe accident with failure of the reactor pressure vessel the consequences of corium ejection at elevated system pressure depend essentially on the geometry of the reactor cavity. Therefore, experiments have been conducted in the DISCO facility at Research Center Karlsruhe (FZK) for various European reactor plants in scaled cavity models employing high temperature melts and steam, and prototypic atmosphere in the containment vessel. The paper presents results from tests in the geometry of a German Konvoi reactor and a comparison with results from other reactor plants.
