The Proactive Role of the Motor Industry in the Field of Energy Efficient Motor Driven Systems

CEMEP, the European Committee of Manufacturers of Electric Machines and Power Electronics is fully convinced that motor driven systems have a significant impact on the consumption of energy worldwide. It is estimated that up to 7% of global electricity demand could be saved if the already efficient motor driven systems would be cost- optimised additionally from an end-user perspective. The necessary high efficient technologies are widely available. The global discussion about the ever increasing energy costs and the climatic changes due to CO<,2>- emission has resulted in a range of different legal and voluntary activities around the world. However, due to a number of barriers, efficient motor driven systems are still only scarcely used.
