A NEW START OF 'KBO' MODULE UTILIZATION

Year 2008 is a memorable year for Japanese people since the first Japan-made space station "KIBO€ erftered into operation in this summer. Two segments of KIBO were attached to the ISS by STS-123 and STS-124 and two multi-user experiment racks, called RYUTAI rack and SAIBO rack, were successfully installed into KIBO during 1J/STS-124 mission. After the initial checkout of KIBO system and those experiment racks, JAXA commenced the first experiment in KIBO on August 22. This paper presents a quick look of the first experiment in KIBO and JAXA's early phase utilization plan of KIBO.
