摘要

The ThermoEnergy Integrated Power System (TIPS) is a new approach to the combustion of fossil fuel for production of electricity that captures carbon dioxide (CO_2) and eliminates airborne emission of acid gases, particulates and mercury. TIPS elevates the pressure of the combustion process and integrates condensing scrubbers to capture priority pollutants and recover CO_2 as a liquid for sequestration or beneficial reuse. Combustion and exhaust-gas treatment conducted at elevated pressure use heat transfer, mass transfer and liquid vapor equilibrium regimes that are unavailable to lower pressure conventional technologies. In order to prove the technology, ThermoEnergy is conducting experiments to determine the physical properties and liquid vapor equilibrium of high-pressure-CO_2 rich gases that would be produced by the pressurized oxy-fuel combustion of coal.
