With the development and deepening of application WEBGIS, map browsing inquiries, which based on the traditional browser technology, has become increasingly unable to meet the need of users. User needs more and more interactive editing and polygon selecting, but traditional technology can't support those functions. While new technologies can be used to solve the above problem, it would add the costing of the WEBGIS system because of system updating. This paper discuss a new method of drawing map in the explorer by the JavaScript based on the exiting WEBGIS system, providing the function of interactive editing and polygon selecting, which can meet the need of searching and exploring. Because of this method using the traditional JavaScript technology, the WEBGIS services can use the old technology structure without extra costs. It has small technology risk. In this method, all functions of drawing map are realized in one object, which can draw point, line, poly, rectangle line, ellipse line, fill rectangle, fill poly, fill ellipse, and set the border width and color, set the fill color. In a word, it can be easily used in the exiting WEBGIS and achieve the drawing functional needs of users. This technology has been successfully applied to the typhoon moving path demonstration WEBGIS system. The demonstration system save the typhoon's data such as time, longitude, latitude, wind rate, wind power, the radius of seven wind rate, the radius often wind rate of the typhoon observation point time, provide the querying service for client, In the demonstration, the client can obtain the cartoon of the typhoon moving process, and get the particular observation point data of recorded typhoon by moving the mouse to the typhoon observation point, the demonstration adopt red real line to denote the radius of ten wind rate and red broken line to denote the seven, and floating label is adopted to show the particular data when mouse moving to the observation point. The demonstration use the TopMap World WEBGIS COM to show the GIS information, and this WEBGIS COM is an easy and high efficiency WEBGIS solution.
