In this paper, mechanisms of smooth blasting and multidimensional cumulative cutting blasting are analyzed, and ground vibrations, increase in crack frequency, the length of radial crack, half cast factor (Half cast factor is defined as the percentage of the visible length of identifiable blasthole "barrels" and "half casts" over the total number of perimeter holes drilled.) induced by multidimensional cumulative cutting blasting and smooth blasting are compared. Compared with smooth blasting, multidimensional cumulative cutting blasting can reduce ground vibration and damage to remaining rock mass, improve half cast factor, but the structure of charge and procession of practices are more complex.
