High molecular weight glutenin employing the standard sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS-PAGE) and acid (A-PAGE) polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis methods were classified in 26 Slovak wheat landraces and old cultivars. Total number of 8 alleles was detected at all Glu-1 loci. The most frequent HMW-GS alleles were Null for Glu-1A, 7+9 for Glu-1B and 2+12 for Glu-1D, respectively. However low frequented alleles such as 2*, 17+18 and 3+12 were observed. The glutenin-based quality score ranged from 4 to 10.
