In this paper, a new anchorage method suitable for soft rock roadway was introduced first. The method was developed by a large number of model tests. Samples used in test were made into prismatic shape with rock bolts in them. Different anchorage parameters of rock bolts were taken into account in the test. Strength and stiffness parameters of samples with bolts obtained in tests are very different, in which the disposal pattern of inclined and crossed is the best one that may enhance the strength of sample over 30% even. Then, numerical simulation of stability analysis was conducted for a crossheading of coal mine. The surrounding rock in roof, floor and coal sides wall is very soft and week. Sensitivity analysis of parameters for surrounding rock was carried out under different horizontal pressure coefficient of in-situ stress. The stability of crossheading was evaluated. The optimization design of anchorage is used to the stability analysis and the result shows that this new anchorage design of "inclined and crossed arrangement method" can greatly improve the rock stability of crossheading.
