The strip mining engineering rock mass is regarded as a nonlinear dynamic system, based on the instances of strip mining, the results of the researches on the constitutive relationships of rocks in and outside China, etc, the main influence factors of strip mining are studied, the models of the nonlinear dynamic system of strip mining engineering rock mass (differential equation) are built. The analyzing and estimating methods of the stability of the dynamic system of strip mining engineering rock mass are studied by the qualitative and stability theory of differential equation, and the theory of nonlinear dynamic system. Regarding to different types of strip mining engineering rock mass (small, moderate, and large dimension strip mining; hard, medium, and soft surrounding rock), the conditions and ranges of their stability are determined. The governing parameters and their changing regularity that influence the stability of the dynamic system of strip mining engineering rock mass are studied by the modern control theory. The analyzing and estimating methods of the stability of the nonlinear dynamic system of the strip mining engineering rock mass can be validated by the similar material model experiments and the results of numerical simulation, as well as the instances of strip mining collected.
