Based on the fact that the support of deep high-stress roadway driven along the bottom of the loose thick coal seam has not been well solved with bolt-mesh support economically, therefore, a new supporting technology, the three-dimensional pre-stressing cable supporting technology (viz. pre-stressing 3D-Cable) was proposed and studied to solve the supporting problem. The pre-stressing 3D-Cable supporting technology was a new roadway supporting technology with more bearing capability; it is a new developing stage of the cable supporting. The mechanism of this kind of support was simulated and analyzed. It was found that the stress environment in the surrounding rock-mass was ameliorated; the failure mode of the roof of the roadway was changed when the pre-stressing 3D-Cable supporting was exerted. The new supporting technique was applied to practice in a deep mine, not only the deformation of the roadway was controlled well, the enormous economic and social effect was also gained, so it is of great value to be applied to the similar conditions.
