摘要

Preparing a well balanced water management schedule for paddy fields in an irrigation scheme is a very challenging task. Today, GIS plays a main role in the field of water management as a tool which can use to manage natural resources. This paper introduces a GIS and RS based solution for a better water management for paddy fields in an irrigation scheme. Physically, it is a very simple task of supplying water during various time intervals at various water levels. But behind the screen, the preparation of the schedule has to under go a certain scientific process to calculate the amount of water has to be released from sluice gates of cannel system at right place at right time.Crop water requirement of paddy extent is calculated by using GIS and RS based system at various stages of the growth of paddy plants. Schedule is prepared by a computer application which is integrated with a GIS/RS system which handles canal system and paddy extent. This GIS and RS based solution will make easy to design a better water management schedule with a higher reliability than a schedule which is designed manually.
