The Brazilian MDF market is experiencing a high growth period, since the first MDF plant in Brazil was installed in 1997. This presentation shows the growth rates since that date, trends for the future, as well as existing and new players in this market. Product uses, distribution and new opportunities are emphasized. The ratio of MDF/Particleboard production in Brazil is shown. Duratex is the Brazilian leader in panel production; the experience of more than 50 years leads Duratex towards the challenge of building the largest MDF line in the world. The concept and the goals of the new Duratex MDF line are presented. Key success factors to be considered during the implementation of such a project will be discussed.
