The incorporation of pyrethroids into textiles with long-lasting insecticidal nets serving as an example, is anticipated to lead to the reduction of malaria and other vector-bourne diseases in 3rd World settings and for professionals and recreational sports enthusiasts that frequently encounter biting insects such as mosquitoes and ticks. Pyrethroids are relatively safe to human and mammalian populations; however, vector resistance to pyrethroids is a major concern for future usage. Textile products that perform best are manufactured in the factory; however, products that allow the user to treat textiles in situ are also in development.
