In less than 30 years of reform and opening up,China rapid industrialization has accessed to a great deal of success, but industrialization and cultural awareness in the community as a whole is not yet a formed and accumulated functioning mechanism. Chinese society is now a mixed body, which deeply rooted in the culture of residual agricultural awareness and strong excitement of industrial culture artifacts, at the same time pondering the idea of information culture. Industrial Design was born in an industrialized society germination process, and was the coordination and amendments to the social division of labor and large-scale production mechanism. However,China is facing very different social background from the Western industrial societies. History and times do not permit us to repeat the development roads of Western countries, so we must learn to process the experience and lessons from the results of western country. Furthermore,we have to explore our own theory, methodology and practice of development.Chinese economy is shifting from manufacturing type to design type or brand strategy type, so in this process enterprises and the whole society will change their mind on how to recognize "design". In the process of industrial adjustment mechanism, Chinese product economy is evolving from "manufacturing type" to "innovative type",so we must be soberly aware that only if when we are looking at our consumer with our own eyes, we can look into and understand "consumer's potential need",establish an open structured study development mechanism that suits our changing society, create our own corporation brand strategy, hold the real core competitive edge, and brand new type of product to hold our own market share. This means we must use the "Matterology" as a systematic method to find our special corporation core competitive edge and long-term strategy, and put more effort on the outer factors of our "product", and build a mechanism for sustainable development for our corporation economy.Design is a creative behavior, if "creating Physical matter" leashes "design", designer's mind will be constrained by the "physical matter" and their creativity are limited, so when we talk about "design" we should define it as "people's matter". Therefore, we can truly create "new type of creation" by solving problems within "people's matter", or make "difference" within "restrictions".Design Matterology is a method that studies the out comes of different people's need in varies environment,and what effect it could possibly have on people's using statue and using characteristics process. All sorts of knowledge, "people's matter" will be the parameter of "target system" which including such factors as science,art, technique, material, technology and form, so that we can analysis, evaluate, select, and organize related knowledge resources and developed a research direction.Therefore, design is a path of action that when people try to fit in their external environment system. In the struggle of living we learned how to evolve and formed a "new knowledge structure", so that Design is the "creation" of wisdom of recombinant human survival.
