Temperature control system of food extruder is characterized by pure time-delay, large inertia, and variation with time. So it is difficult to achieve the accurate control of extruder barrel temperature by traditional PID controller. This paper presents a fuzzy immune adaptive PID controller based on immune mechanism and fuzzy inference. Simulation on fuzzy immune adaptive PID controller and traditional PID controller was carried out so as to compare the control effect of them. The results show that the fuzzy immune adaptive PID controller has good reliability, adaptability and robustness, which is superior to the traditional PID controller.
