In applications of Electromagnetic (EM) fields to advanced liquid→solid (L/S) materials processing, the EM-fields exert significant influences on the heat, mass and momentum transport behaviors in the solidifying materials via Joule heating/Lorentz forces. It is of importance to develop modeling techniques to simulate the L/S-EM-processing of alloy products. This article describes the recent work at HIT on the modeling for EM-processing of TiAl castings/ingots, using authors' proposed/extended continuum model and the solution approaches to the dendritic solidification transport phenomena under an arbitrary EM-field. Future related-tasks are suggested.
