SGT6-5000F Technology Enhancements

The SGT6-5000F engine has demonstrated an exceptional operational record over the 14-year,4.5 million fleet hour operational history. Since its introduction in 1991, this F-Class gas turbine hasundergone continuous development to improve performance, reliability and operational flexibility and toreduce emissions and life cycle costs. The result is a gas turbine with an excellent operational record andcustomer value. To further improve the competitiveness of the SGT6-5000F, several technologyadvances have been integrated into the frame. These enhancements will serve to further advance theengine’s flexibility, improve availability and reliability and reduce life cycle costs, all of which will yieldincreased customer value. The main thrusts in the enhancement effort were in advanced compressordesign, increased operational flexibility and improved component mechanical integrity. This paperdescribes the recent shop tested technology and advances now available in the SGT6-5000F gas turbine.
