This paper presents an overview review of on-going, full-scale mercury control projects at coalfiredpower plants. The paper describes regulatory drivers that have influenced the decision toinstall full-scale commercial mercury control systems. For selected commercial mercury controlnew and retrofit projects, the paper provides summary background information. In addition, thepaper reviews various criteria, test methods, and averaging periods employed to measure theperformance of full-scale mercury control projects. The paper also addresses co-removal ofmercury in different types of air quality control systems.
