Truck component reconditioning using machine centers

This paper describes an improved process for the reconditioning ofheavy freight car truck castings. Horizontal boring mills withspecialized spindle attachments are used to replace certain handoperations with machining in order to improve the quality of thefinished part as well as the worker environment.
