Shape Memory Actuators for Automotive Applications

Modern cars feature an increasing number of intelligent functions tied to vehicle and engine control,passenger safety and comfort. In particular “Shape Memory Alloys” enable development of simple,very compact, reliable actuators that can be integrated in the components or structures, thustransforming them from static to dynamic or, in some cases, adaptive.SAES Getters S.p.A. can offer a vertically integrated production line of NiTi semifinished shapes(e.g. wire, springs,..) as well as competencies to support design and engineering of SMA devices.Case histories will be presented.
