PRISMA is a Formation Flying (FF) mission proposed by the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB) for validation of formation flying concepts and technologies as early as 2009. CNES is participating on PRISMA with the FFIORD experiment, comprising the provision and in-orbit validation of the Formation Flying RF Metrology sub-system (FFRF), designed and developed by Alcatel Alenia Space France. Through the use of dedicated flight software, CNES will carry out open and closed loop formation flying on PRISMA in a tight cooperation with the other PRISMA partners. PRISMA is thus a unique opportunity in Europe for early in-flight validation of FF concepts and technologies.
