The development of Brayton systems has created thepotential for large economic high-temperature reactorsusing liquid-salt coolants. While the near-term option isthe AHTR, three longer-range options provide long-termfuel sustainability (breeding) and actinide-burningcapabilities: LSFRs, MSRs, and fusion reactors.
