Turbulent flow and heat transfer in a narrow rectangular channel with one sidewall periodically roughened by rectangular bars as Longitudinal Vortex Generators (LVGs) are studied by numerical simulation for water with Reynolds number ranging from 1.5× 10~4 to 3.5×10~4. The effect of Reynolds numbers and incidence angle are investigated while keeping the aspect ratio of LVG constant. The development of longitudinal vortex along the flow direction and its influence on heat transfer and flow were also presented in detail. It was found that the heat transfer performance in rectangular channel could be greatly enhanced by LVGs, and the optimal incidence angle is around 50° under the studied range of Reynolds numbers.
