The effect of rolling motion upon natural circulation flow instability is investigated experimentally. The focus is put on the effect upon two typical instabilities - high frequency pressure oscillation and low frequency density wave oscillation during natural circulation. The experimental results show that high frequency pressure oscillation does not happen in natural circulation flow under rolling condition. Flow oscillation caused by rolling destabilizes the system and advances the onset of oscillation. Overlapping of flow oscillation by rolling and density wave oscillation enhances the system instability. The effect of natural circulation under rolling motion is analyzed and is obtained. The calculation results agree well with the experimental data.
