This paper describes a digitally-controlled,isolated 35 W half-bridge dc-dc converter based on a novelmonolithic integrated circuit controller. The digitalcontroller uses a hardware digital signal processor (DSP)for control execution and is managed by a microcontroller(MCU). This combination provides fast response, insystemprogrammability, and cost-effectiveness making ituseable in a wide range of applications. It also enablespower delivery and power management control functions tobe implemented in a single chip. The dc-dc converterdesign uses this controller on the secondary side of thepower supply and uses a second MCU and a solid-stateisolator to digitize and transmit primary-side voltages to thesecondary-side, forming a seamless high-performance,fully-digital control architecture. An overview of thesecondary-side controller and discussion of the entiresystem implementation are presented in this whitepaper.
