Applications of high formability and fine grain hot rolling C-Mn steel plate in stamping parts for vehicles were investigated. Stress-strain curves and metallographic structures of the steel were measured and observed. The steel plate can be punched complex form cross member of engine for heavy duty truck which bore comprehensive deformation of bending and deep stretch during forming process. To punch and form the part is more difficult. FLC figure has been calculated by mechanical parameters, including: uniform elongation, n_u-Volume and empirical equation established in the paper. Furthermore, reasons of good formability of the steel plates were analyzed by them. Formability of this steel plate was compared with that of 09SiVL steel plate and its ing properties have been researched also. Carbon equivalent in the plate and hardness distribution of ing heat effected zone were calculated and measured. Mechanical and cold bended properties of the ing-joint were tested. As a result, weldability of the high strength fine grain steel plate is satisfactory.
