Indonesian railway company need a batch of high hardness steel rail to lie on the rail line that is short radius and heavy transportation. Baotou steel adopts three methods of chemistry composition design, according to present conditions, to ensure the requirement of hardness and strengthen for exporting steel rail. The methods are as follows: a Adjust the percentage of C, Si to max value of specification in bidding documents; b Add a little bit of Cr element to improve penetration hardenability; c Add alloy element V to improve strengthen of matrix material. The properties of Cr-V rail steel are improved and ensured by adjusting chemistry composition. Adopting suitable quenching procedure, rail steel which meet requirement of bidding documents are produced by adjusting heating temperature, rail steel moving speed, blowing time, jet pressure in electrical-quenching housework. The average tensile strengthen of rail steel which produced by adopting new quenching procedure reach 1295MPa, the average surface hardness of rail head exceed 378HB, the first point hardness on section exceed 38.0HRc.This set of rail have prior intensity and good wearness.
