THREE GORGES PROJECT: THE TURBINES OF LEFT BANK POWERSTATION

摘要

Alstom is involved in the design, manufacturing, erection and commissioning of 8 turbines and generators of the Three-Gorges left bank PowerStation and supply the governing systems for all the left bank 14 units. This paper details the main design choices made by Alstom for the turbines and explains the challenges in organizing the worldwide manufacture and the installation of these so big units. Many Chinese industry staffs have also been trained all along the different phases of realization. Finally the successful commissioning of 3 units in October 2003 within only 4 months validates the performance of Alstom in engineering and management of this large project.
