The Kirchhoff approximation (KA) is used to calculatethe radar cross section by a stack of two one-dimensionalrough interfaces (a layer). For each interface, only the singlescattering is included. Nevertheless, the successive reflectionsbetween the two rough interfaces are taken into account and theshadowing effect, important under grazing angles, is considered.To obtain numerical results, the KA is reduced in the highfrequencylimit and simulations are presented for a sea surfacecovered in oil, in microwave radar band.
