Many authors in books and papers have discussed the role of statisticians in the quality movement. We go further, and in the context of an extended quality movement: (1) extend the quality movement to other relevant areas including reliability, maintenance, innovation etc'..., (2) use profiles and pattern models, (3) present a database in the context of a modern e-library organized to provide roadmaps, diagnostic tools and solutions for problems in industry, business and governmental institutions. We define this extended quality movement, SQM, Stochastics for the Quality Movement. Having also in mind that the successful business executive is forecasting; purchasing, producing, marketing, pricing and organizing, all activities requiring SQM assistance and therapies. This proposal is a very demanding in terms of human resources and funding.
