In the chemical industry, risk assessment methods are needed in front of accidental gas releases. Nowadays, the water-curtain is recognized as a useful technique to mitigate a heavy gas cloud. Models already exist to study their efficiency and they are often based on experimental results. The concept of validating these models by different methods is presented, and each part is explained. They consist of medium-scale field tests, Wind-Gallery tests and numerical simulations. Both experimental methods in different scales and numerical methods are discussed. Preliminary results of field-tests and spray characteristics are given.
