Production of Pipeline Quality Natural Gas with the Molecular Gate~R? CO_2 Removal Process

In May of 2002, the first Molecular Gate~R–Carbon DioxideRemoval system for the removal of carbon dioxide and waterwas started-up at the Tidelands Oil Production Companyoperated facility in Long Beach, California. The feed sourcefor the unit is hydrocarbon rich, water-saturated, associatedgas from water flood enhanced oil recovery operations. Thefeed CO_2 concentration varies widely and is typically over30% while the unit reduces the carbon dioxide level to lessthan 2%. The unit removes the carbon dioxide, heavyhydrocarbons and water producing pipeline specification gasfor sale to the local natural gas utility company.
