Meyjaran dam is a rockfill dam with asphalt-concrete core and is located in Northern Iran with heavy rainfall. On the other hand, Iran is a country exposed to a high level risk of earthquake. Therefore, it is very important to examine the dams' resistance against earthquakes. For this reason, the designed asphalt core dam was analyzed under several earthquakes loading. These analyses were performed to estimate the permanent deformations, which could be induced by sever earthquakes. In these studies, the acceleration time histories for the assumed effective motions along the potential failure surface were obtained using the PLAXIS finite element computer program. The results including response accelerations, displacements, shear stresses and shear strains for any element, especially in asphalt core, are presented in this paper.
