This paper reports an application of the Hydraulic Fracturing (HF) technique for stress measurement in quarry environments. Some results of the HF tests that were performed in white marble quarries of the Agri Marmiferi basin in Carrara (Italy), are reported. The sites that were involved in the measurements are: a pillar in an underground exploitation (quarry A), the lower part of an open pit rock slope (quarry B), a quarry located in the bottom of a valley (quarry C). A description of the applied experimental set up, -the MiniFrac device- and of the measured parameters are given, while the analysis of the test results was made using different interpretation techniques, implemented in a specifically developed program that is based on MATLAB. In one of the cases, the experimental results are compared with those obtained using BEM and FDM numerical models.
