摘要

The studied area situated on the eastern Mediterranean section, is bordering the Dead Sea fault line known as the "Yammouneh fault" in Lebanon. The "Yammouneh fault" is a zone of considerable seismicity. In the Greater Beirut Area, there are several locations with loose sand layers containing a low percentage of fine particles. Several coastal areas with an elevated groundwater present a substantial risk of liquefaction. The liquefaction analysis shows the vulnerability of several sites where reconstruction took place after the 1975-1990 war in Lebanon. The Seismic Risk Assessment for the region provides the limited acceleration capable of liquefying the sand from 'attenuation relationships. The probabilities are then obtained and represented on a seismic hazard map by iso-probabilistic curves allowing the characterization of vulnerable sites to liquefaction. A more in depth analysis will be established with the emergence of additional Geotechnical investigations.
